报告人:Dr. Wu PeiliUK Met Office

 

报告人简介:

Wu Peili joined the Met Office Hadley Centre in 1999. Before that, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh working on modelling the Mediterranean. Before that, Peili completed a PhD in atmospheric dynamics and a diploma in physics at Imperial College London. Peili's work contributes towards improving hydrological predictions of the Unified Model, and is a member of the Global Water Cycle team. He focuses on the global to continental scales, studying physical processes and large-scale dynamics linking the atmosphere, land and oceans and influencing the water cycle; evaluating model simulations of these processes; detecting and attributing past, and predicting future changes in the hydrological cycle and its impact. Peili has a broad interest in climate variability and change. Peili is a lead scientist for the Met Office's IHP project and acting as a Met Office contact for NERC's changing water cycle programme. He is also a member of the international science steering committee for the Arctic/Subarctic Ocean Fluxes (ASOF) programme.

Dr. Yang directs the Center for Integrated Earth System Science (CIESS) at the University of Texas at Austin, fostering interdisciplinary Earth System Science research across campus; see http://www.jsg.utexas.edu/ciess/. Dr. Yang also leads the Land, Environment, and Atmospheric Dynamics (LEAD) group in the Department of Geological Sciences that quantitatively addresses how land surface processes affect and are affected by weather and climate, with a focus on environmental issues of societal importance, such as the conditions of agriculture, energy, freshwater resources, ecosystems, and air quality. His publications include more than 110 peer-reviewed articles (over 60 in the past 10 years at UT-Austin), in addition to 100+ conference papers, with an ISI Hirsch Index of 38 and a Google Scholar H-index of 48. He has won just over $7M total as the PI in external funding. His graduate students have received prestigious federal fellowships from NSF, NASA, NOAA, Department of Homeland Security, and the AGU Hydrology Sections Horton Research Grant. He has sponsored and co-supervised a high school student to be a semi-finalist, Siemens Competition in summer 2013. He has received the Joseph C. Walter Jr. Excellence Award, the most prestigious award at the Jackson School of Geosciences. He was a Co-Chair of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Community Earth System Model (CESM) Land Modeling Working Group from 2008 to 2013. He shared NCARs Community Climate System Model (CCSM) Distinguished Achievement Award in 2008. He has been elected as a member of China's "1000-Talents" Program. He is an editor of Journal of Meteorological Research (formerly Acta Meteorologica Sinica), serves in the editorial board of the Environmental Modeling & Software journal, and is the guest editor of a Climatic Change special issue on "Regional Earth System Modeling".

报告人简介:

李明星,中国科学院东亚区域气候-环境重点实验室研究员,主要从事陆面模式的发展和陆面过程的模拟研究,关注陆面水循环、地球生物生化过程机理和参数化方案的发展,以土壤湿度、地下水位、植被变化为对象探讨陆面过程长期变化及其陆-气相互作用特征。
